A teenager was arrested and charged with several charges including multiple counts of attempted murder after he reportedly fired shots into a vehicle in the area of Oakland Square shortly before 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 3.

Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched to the area of Oakland Square and were assisted by deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office on a report of shots fired.

Aaron Rollins, 14, of Urbana had initially fled the scene, but law enforcement eventually identified him hiding in an alley in the area of north Detroit and north Main streets. As law enforcement patrolled the area, several residents emerged from their houses or were standing outside and attempted to give a description and whereabouts of where the suspect had fled.

Rollins was apprehended and a handgun and extended magazine were located in the area near where he was identified. After the teen was arrested and secured in the rear of a sheriff deputy’s cruiser, Rollins was able to kick at and break the window to the vehicle.
