Suzanne Wildermuth, 87, of rural DeGraff, OH, passed away early Thursday morning, May 1, 2025, at her home.
Suzanne was born on March 29, 1938, in Bellefontaine, OH, a daughter of the late James A. and Francis L. (Huber) Whitney. She married Donald Hugh Wildermuth on September 26, 1964, in Speedway, IN and he preceded her in death on June 14, 2018. She was also preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley J. and Ron Reedy, Dianne Rowan, Warren and Nancy Wildermuth, Norman and Leona Wildermuth, and Max and Evelyn Wildermuth.
Suzanne is survived by three children, Dawn Ann (Jeff) Beelman of DeGraff, Shawn Jacob (Jana) Wildermuth, and James Dean (Rhonda) Wildermuth, both of Lewistown, OH, five grandchildren, Meghan Bergman, Jacob (Hannah Smith) Wildermuth, Lauren Wildermuth, Clayton (Emily) Wildermuth, and Cole Wildermuth, three great grandchildren, Lane Bergman, Luke Wildermuth and Evelyn Wildermuth, brother-in-law, Larry Rowan of Lakeview, OH, long-time friend, Vonnie Smith, and several nieces and nephews.
Suzanne was a 1956 graduate of Bellefontaine High School. She was a member of Rum Creek United Methodist Church, and in her earlier years was very active in King’s Daughters.
Out of high school, Suzanne worked at Schick’s Implements in Bellefontaine, where she met Don and after a long courtship, they were married, and the rest is history. Suzanne was a proud farmer’s wife and homemaker. She took pleasure in cooking for area farmers, collecting recipes, playing Bridge, and on occasion playing the slot machines.
During the Covid pandemic, she made over 500 masks. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Suzanne’s family wishes to give a special thank you to the staff of Universal Home Health and Hospice Care, and to her two granddaughters, Meghan and Lauren, for their exceptional care for their grandmother.
Pastor Ken Neighoff will begin funeral services at 1 p.m. Monday, May 5, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson, OH.
