Suspects attempting to sell counterfeit narcotics lodged in jail

David Marlow, 29, and Destiny Ostermyer, 26, both at-large, were each arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule II drug following a traffic stop initiated around 5 p.m., Saturday, March 11, by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.

Officers on patrol on Ludlow Road between Spring and Patterson avenues observed a maroon pickup truck with dark tinted windows traveling along Ludlow Road. The truck reportedly made an abrupt turn onto westbound Spring Avenue and an officer gave pursuit suspecting the pickup truck was trying to elude police, given the aggressive nature of the turn.

The suspects failed to stop at a stop sign on Newell Street at Patterson Avenue police initiated the stop at that time.

Upon making contact with the driver, Marlow, police observed suspected signs of drug abuse. Marlow was unable to provide identification and or a valid driver’s license.
Both suspects admitted to police to possessing drug paraphernalia, and Ostermyer acknowledged she’d used fentanyl earlier in the day.

A search of the vehicle revealed several syringes and other drug paraphernalia, including a digital scale. Officers also located a bottle of prescription methadone, The label had been tampered with and officers were unable to identify the person prescribed the methadone.

The suspects also reportedly were attempting to sell counterfeit narcotics. Inside the truck, officers identified crushed up melatonin and table salt that both individuals admitted to trying to pass off as illegal narcotics.

They told police that they were struggling, homeless and recently had sought help for their drug addiction.

Both suspects were lodged in the Logan County Jail.
