Rooster complaint leads to drug charge
A pair of suspects were arrested following an investigation into a rooster running loose off their property and biting a neighbor.
Police were dispatched around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, to the area of 405 Seymour St. on a report of a woman having been bitten by a neighbor’s rooster. The victim told police she’d been outside working in her yard when the rooster left the neighboring property and bit her on the arm.
Jaedyn Ford, 25, of Bellefontaine, resides at the property and told police the chickens including the offending rooster are let out for an hour each day to free range. While speaking with officers, a burnt crack pipe reportedly fell from her pocket, at which point Ford became argumentative with police. As officers attempted to get her to turn over the drug paraphernalia, another suspect, William Dolan, 29, of Bellefontaine, became physically involved and attempted to pull Ford back into the residence.
A struggle ensued with officers, who forcibly pulled both individuals from inside the residence and arrested them.
At the Logan County Jail, Ford reportedly refused to identify herself or provide her information. She was charged with resisting arrest, failure to identify, having animals at large and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Dolan was charged with resisting arrest and obstructing official business.
