BellefontainePolice Patch-200Brent Ellis, 47, of Lima, and Brent Johnson, 52, of Bellefontaine, each were charged after drugs and an open container of alcohol were recovered from a traffic stop executed around 4:30 p.m., Saturday, April 29, by offices of the Bellefontaine Police Department in the area of Detroit Street and Sandusky Avenue.

Officers initiated a traffic stop because the window tint of the vehicle the men were riding in exceeded the legal limit, and because the driver, Ellis, committed an improper turn violation.

Upon making contact with the men, officers observed signs of alcohol impairment from the passenger, Johnson. Ellis admitted to police there was marijuana in the center console.

A search of the car revealed the marijuana, as well as an open bottle of beer concealed behind the passenger’s seat.

Ellis was issued a summons for possession of marijuana, and Johnson was issued a summons for having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.
