Xavier Stepp, 30, and Laura Plum, 23, both of Bellefontaine, were each issued a summons after a neighboring tenant inside the Lincoln Arms Apartment complex reported continued loud noises and suspected incidents of domestic violence.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, to the complex located at 400 West St. A neighbor in the apartment next door told officers she heard screaming and suspected fighting coming from the suspects’ apartment. The commotion could be heard all the way downstairs, outside the apartment building, the complainant told police.
The noise and banging were so loud that the neighbor’s colleagues questioned her about it during an Internet video call that morning.
Police made contact with the suspects, noting this marked the 12th call for service at that apartment since last October for reasons including yelling, banging against walls and loud music.
Stepp and Plum each denied any wrongdoing and said their neighbor was equally loud.
They were each charged with disturbing the peace and issued the summons.
