Patrick Lambert, 63, of Bellefontaine, was issued a summons for dogs at-large the afternoon of Monday, June 3, after his dogs ran off his property and one reportedly charged at another person while on the loose.

Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched shortly after 2 p.m. to the 200 block of west Brown Avenue on a report of two canines at-large. Upon arrival, officers were told which residence the dogs belonged to and contact was made with the resident, Lambert, who told police he had not let the dogs outside but they had gotten out.

Police told Lambert he needed to work towards securing the canines. The dogs were located a short time later near the intersection of north Elm Street and Oakland Square.

As efforts were made to round up the dogs, a female reportedly approached one of the canines and the dog charged at her, stopping just a few feet from her, officers said. Officers used a patrol car to shepherd the dog back to its owner.

The dogs were secured and returned home. Lambert was issued a summons for dogs at-large.
