James Pursley, 59, of Bellefontaine, was issued a summons by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department shortly before 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 17, after his dog reportedly attacked and killed a neighbor’s cat.
Police were dispatched to the area of the 600 block of west Auburn Avenue on a report of white Husky canine attacking a neighboring cat.
Upon their arrival, officers made contact with the victim who reported the dog belonged to Pursley and that it had escaped its chain and attacked her cat.
Police found the lifeless feline in the front yard of the residence and made contact with the defendant. Pursley told officers the dog was to be chained up in his backyard, but must have gotten loose.
He was issued a summons for dogs running at-large.
