West Liberty-Salem Schools Superintendent Kraig Hissong reported in a statement Wednesday afternoon, March 12, that a middle school student was injured during recess and, “out of an abundance of caution,” was transported by CareFlight helicopter to an area hospital for further medical attention. “Our staff responded quickly and professionally, ensuring the student received immediate care, while also minimizing the impact on other students,” Hissong said. “Our dedicated middle school staff, school-based health center staff and school personnel worked quickly to provide comfort and support, demonstrating the care and attentiveness we value in our school community. We are keeping the student and their family in our thoughts and will continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our students.” (SUBMITTED PHOTO)
