A 12-year-old middle school student was charged with inducing panic after making a bomb threat Tuesday, Dec. 19, against a Bellefontaine City Schools’ bus.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched to the high school shortly after 3 p.m. on a report the male student had claimed to have put a bomb on the bus.
Officers did not notice unusual on or about the bus. Still, students were evacuated and put on a different bus and a 300-foot perimeter was secured around the area as a precautionary measure.
A bomb squad from Allen County arrived on scene and did not find any explosives on the bus.
The student was lodged in the Central Ohio Youth Center.
