Holley Tolliver, 57, of Lakeview, has been identified as the gunman involved in last month’s day-long standoff with law enforcement near Indian Lake.
Tolliver so far has been charged with improperly discharging a firearm into an occupied structure. He was hospitalized Tuesday, Sept. 3, due to complications from a gunshot wound sustained during the standoff.
The incident, which occurred on Aug. 14th on the north side of the lake, ended with Tolliver sustaining a gunshot wound to the arm before surrendering to authorities.
The ordeal began around 10:33 a.m. when a 911 call was made from a neighboring residence at 11307 Big Bear Path, reporting that their home had been struck by gunfire. Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene and confirmed that the shots had originated from Tolliver’s residence at 11331 Big Bear Path.
When deputies attempted to make initial contact, Tolliver refused to open the door. As a safety precaution, nearby residents were evacuated from their homes. The situation escalated, prompting the involvement of multiple law enforcement agencies, including Bellefontaine Police, Marysville Special Response Teams (SRT) and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Throughout the standoff, Tolliver fired numerous rounds at officers. SRT units deployed flash-bangs and attempted to gain entry into the residence but were met with gunfire, forcing them to retreat. After hours of negotiation attempts, officers returned fire, injuring Tolliver. The standoff concluded at approximately 9:19 p.m. when Tolliver exited the residence and was taken into custody.
Tolliver was transported by squad to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton for treatment of his injuries. After being discharged from the hospital, he was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Additional charges are pending a grand jury hearing set for Sept. 10.
