Beau L. Hefner, 25, of Wapakoneta, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a traffic stop early Sunday morning, Feb. 19.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office on patrol about 1:10 a.m. in the area of County Road 130 near County Road 57 observed his vehicle traveling at 82 mph in a 55 mph zone.
The traffic stop was initiated after the driver pulled into the parking lot of Spartan Nash, 4067 C.R. 130, Bellefontaine.
While speaking with Hefner, deputies noted that his speech was slurred and he showed other signs of intoxication. He told deputies he had consumed two to three alcoholic beverages several hours ago.
Hefner submitted to field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. At the Logan County Jail, the defendant refused to participate in a breath test. He also was cited for speed and was released to a sober driver.
Woman lodged for domestic violence
Danielle A. Thornton, 31, of 105 E. Buckeye St., Belle Center, was charged with domestic violence related to an incident at her residence Sunday evening.
Deputies were dispatched to her address about 11:15 p.m. on a report of a domestic dispute. Deputies learned that the male party, David A. Dickinson, 36, had left the home and they responded to a residence on Charles Street to speak with him.
Dickinson told deputies that he and Thornton had been in a verbal argument when she began to kick him and then “started attacking” him for about 10 to 15 minutes, reportedly pulling hair out of his head and biting his lip. Deputies also noticed dried blood on his lips.
While speaking with Thornton, deputies observed hair on her person that appeared to match Dickinson’s hair. She admitted to deputies that she had grabbed him by his hair and then said they were pushing and shoving each other.
The defendant also had scratches on her legs, deputies said.
Deputies were able to view a video of the incident as well.
Thornton was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the jail.
