Riverside scored two early runs and that was all the offense Alaina Snow needed as she shut down visiting Bradford in a 2-0 Division IV sectional softball game Thursday afternoon.
The fifth-seeded Pirates are now 13-8 and they advance to play at third-seeded Ansonia in the sectional final Tuesday.
Jaidyn Jackson came up with a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning to give the Pirates a 2-0 lead.
Both teams finished with two hits.
Snow struck out nine and did not walk a batter in getting the shutout victory.
The sectional final against Ansonia will be the second time the Pirates will play the Tigers this spring. Ansonia defeated Riverside 7-6 in the second game of the season.
The Pirates will play a makeup game today at home against Miami East.
