Sidney Ray Allen, Sr., 76, of Lakeview, OH, formerly of Delaware, OH passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Indian Lake Rehabilitation Center.
Sidney was born on December 22, 1947, in Castlewood, VA, a son of the late James Allen and Bea Taylor Proy. He was also preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Ron Smink and Bill Russell and his stepfather, William “Bill” Proy.
Sidney is survived by two children, Hope (Kristen) Allen of Plain City, OH, and Sidney (Beverly) Allen, Jr. of Delaware, three grandchildren, Alex (Tori) Mramor, Maddie Allen, and Bre’ell Partin, five siblings, Nancy (Darriel) Miller, Debbie (Craig) Gibson, Merrilee Smink, Cheryl (Adam Blackshear) Russell, and Billy Allen, special friend, Deloris Hudkins, and several nieces and nephews.
Sidney was a 1966 graduate of Plymouth High School in Plymouth, OH. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during Vietnam. He formerly worked at Ohio Wesleyan University in groundskeeping and landscaping. Sidney enjoyed working, gardening, working on classic cars especially Jeeps, watching sports in general and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. Sidney was a kind man with an infectious smile and humorous personality.
A celebration of Sidney’s life will be held at a later date.
