Shirley Jane Kennedy, 85, of Belle Center, passed away Monday morning, March 6, 2023, at her daughter’s home.

Shirley was born in Floyd County, Kentucky, on November 17, 1937, to the late John B. and Julie (Ousley) DeRossett.  She was the youngest and last surviving of 15 children. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Pamela Wilson, and a son Fred Justice.

Shirley is survived by her husband, William R. Kennedy; daughter Tammy (Ernie) Holycross of Kenton; son John (Christine) Kennedy of Kenton; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Shirley worked as a custodian for Benjamin Logan Schools for 10 years. She was a longtime member of Ridgeway Church of God, and most recently attended the Belle Center Church of Christ.
