Sheryl Kay Payne, age 65, of Kenton, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born October 9, 1959, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to Charles Otis and Dorcas Alberta (Johnson) Payne and they preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory include brothers: Dave (Kathleen Fisher-Payne) Payne of Lima, Tom (Connie) Payne of West Mansfield, Ray (Chris) Payne of Ridgeway, Randy Payne of Kenton, Doug (Kileen) Payne of West Mansfield; grandchild: Trayce Bopp; niece and caregiver: Ciera Nicol; special friend and caregiver: Renee Stalder; special friend: Gina; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her significant other of over 20 years, Steve “Roamer” Mouser; her beloved son: Preston Bopp; twin sister: Carol Nicol; and nephew: Tommy (Mollie, living) Payne.

Sheryl was a graduate of Ben Logan High School class of 1977. She worked many jobs including Imperial Cup, but primarily dedicated her life to her only child, Preston Bopp, who was her whole world.

Her Bible studies and having church in her home was extremely important to her. God was a very important presence in her life. She liked soap operas, listening to rock and country music, and being surrounded by her friends and family. She loved her dog, “Stevie Nicks,” whom she named after her significant other, Steve, and her favorite singer.

She was a very giving person and a loyal friend. She was always smiling and could make anyone laugh. She truly was the life of the party and will be greatly missed.

Arrangements for the Payne family are in the care of Schindewolf-Stout-Crates in Kenton. Services will be held at a later date at the discretion of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Kenton Marble and Granite in memory of Preston and Sheryl.
