Sharon Ann “Sherry” Hansen, 81 of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away on May 5, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in Marysville, Ohio.
She was born on December 31, 1942, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, the daughter of the late Francis and Alice (Flaherty) Hynes.
On October 24, 1964, Sherry married Andrew L. “Andy” Hansen, and he survives in Bellefontaine. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Bev Goodchild, her brothers-in-law, Ghervie Goodchild, Bill Lowe, Ron Hansen, Dan Foxhoven, her nephews, Kent Goodchild and Mike Hynes, and her sister-in-law Donna Hansen.
She is also survived by a daughter Heidi (Jeff) Stiltner, two sons Curt (Janet) Hansen, and Chris Hansen, six grandchildren: C.J. Hansen, Casey Hansen, Katie Hansen, Ben Hansen, Will Stiltner, and Sophie Stiltner; a sister, Marilyn Lowe and brother Jim (Pat) Hynes, and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Sherry led a fulfilling life as a dedicated homemaker, taking great pride in raising her family with love and care. Her home was always filled with warmth and the delicious aroma of her cooking and baking, especially during holidays when she would go above and beyond to make her loved ones feel special.
One of Sherry’s accomplishments was her time playing basketball during high school and growing up on an Iowa farm. She developed a love for horses at a young age and even rode them to school, fostering a lifelong passion for these majestic animals. Sherry also embraced her American heritage proudly, often seen wearing the colors of the flag, red, white, and blue. She stayed true to her Iowa roots though, as she remained a life-long Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
When she wasn’t spending time on her farm in Bellefontaine with her “boys” (her horses), you could often find her at her other happy place, Catawba Island on Lake Erie. Sherry loved throwing her annual Labor Day Party for the lifelong friends she made there.
