A Powell man sustained minor injuries early Wednesday, Sept. 3, after the tractor-trailer he was operating overturned near 8763 N. U.S. Route 68.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Suhail Shwaikieh, 42, was driving a southbound 2016 Volvo VNL semi about 12:18 a.m. on U.S. 68 when it went off the right side of the road. The semi then overcorrected and reentered the highway, where it overturned onto its right side and struck a mailbox and utility pole before coming to rest.
The driver, who was complaining of back pain, was transported by Rushcreek EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital. He was cited for failure to control.
The semi’s load of Dollar General plasticware merchandise, such as cups, bowls, and utensils, was dumped onto U.S. 68 and created a “mess,” deputies said.
Amish residents living in the area helped clean up the plasticware.
Damage to the semi was disabling, and it was towed from the scene by Top’s Towing.
• A West Liberty area woman sustained possible injuries in one-car crash about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2 near 8259 State Route 638.
Deputies report Salina Felver, 27, was driving a southbound 2016 Chevrolet Cruze on S.R. 638 when the car went off the right side, traveled along a ditch and struck landscaping bricks in front of the residence. The car then went airborne over a driveway and struck a row of trees before coming to rest in home’s front yard.
Felver, who was reportedly not wearing a seat belt, was taken by Richland Township EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital.
She was cited for failure to control.
Damage to the car was disabling and Shafer’s Towing removed it from the scene.
• A driver was cited after a two-vehicle, non-injury crash Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 2 at Township Road 190 and U.S. Route 68.
Edwin Ritter, 64, of West Liberty, was driving an eastbound 2015 Mazda CX-5 about 3:15 p.m. on T.R. 190 and was stopped at the intersection when his vehicle proceeded east into the intersection and struck a southbound 2012 Dodge Journey on U.S. 68.
Neither Ritter, nor the Dodge’s driver, April Daugherty, 43, also of West Liberty, reported any injuries.
Ritter was cited for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection.
The vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.
