After careful consideration, Second Harvest Food Bank (SHFB) has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Empty Bowls fundraiser in Logan County due to a lack of participation, representatives announced Tuesday, April 1.

“The restaurants that were able to participate have been amazing, and we are especially grateful to The Flying Pepper Cantina for their partnership and support,” SHFB Marketing and Events Specialist Allie Godfrey said in a release. “We truly appreciate all their hard work and commitment to fighting hunger in our community.”

SHFB is disappointed to pause this Logan County event, but looks forward to reimagining Empty Bowls Logan County in the future, Godfrey said.

The community can still support Second Harvest through another Empty Bowls event by attending the Champaign County Empty Bowls soup crawl happening Wednesday, April 2, from 5 to 8 p.m., beginning at The Farmer’s Daughter, 904 Miami St., Urbana.

Participating locations include: The Farmer’s Daughter, Abuela’s Kitchen, Cafe Paradiso, In Good Taste Market, Mercy Health Urbana and The WhereHouse.
