Second-half surge pushes Tigers past Jets

An overpowering second half performance propelled West Liberty-Salem Friday to a 55-36 victory over Northeastern in an Ohio Heritage Conference game.

The Tigers improve to 12-9 overall and 10-6 in the OHC. Northeastern drops to 8-14, 5-11.

The game was close for the first two quarters until WL-S pulled away in the second half.

The Tigers led 12-11 after one quarter, and outscored the Jets 13-11 in the second quarter to take a 25-22 lead into halftime.

WL-S wasted little time pulling away for good out of halftime. The Tigers doubled up the Jets in scoring, 18-9, in the third quarter to push their lead to double digits. WL-S went on to outscore Northeastern 12-5 in the fourth quarter to finish off the win.

Taran Logwood registered a double-double to lead the Tigers, scoring 20 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Matt Jones added 12 points on top of six rebounds for WL-S.

Northeastern won the JV game 36-29. JJ Johnson scored 11 points for WL-S.

The Tigers close out the regular season today when they host Urbana in a non-league game.
