Russell L. McClure, 92 of Belle Center departed earth for his heavenly home on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

Russ was born in Hardin County on April 17, 1932, to Robert and Ruth (Lowe) McClure. On February 15, 1958, he married Shirley Shellenbarger and she passed away in 2021.

He is survived by one daughter, Sheila (Mike) Leis of Union, Ohio, two granddaughters, Kelsey (Zac) Leis Middaugh of Davenport, FL and Courtney (Jacob) Farr of Springboro, OH, one great-grandson, Liam Farr, born July 6, 2024, one brother, LaVerne (June) McClure of Kenton, OH, one brother-in-law, Art (Miriam) Shellenbarger of Huntsville, OH and many beloved nieces and nephews. Russ was preceded in death by one son, Jim, brothers, Harold and Don McClure and a sister, Marianne Roether. 

Russ was a USMC Korean War Veteran and a lifelong farmer. He loved the land and enjoyed driving around to “check on how everyone’s crops were doing”. He also worked as a diesel mechanic/driver for Maxline Express (Kenton Transfer) for many years.

His greatest pleasure in life was reading the Bible, and he also enjoyed eating Shirley’s baked goods and a good game of Euchre. Russ and Shirley were members of Russell’s Point Church of God and after Shirley passed, he worshipped at Belle Center Church of Christ. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 17, at the Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home, with Pastor Connor Thompson officiating. Committal service will follow at Grove Cemetery.
