Russell Eugene Long, 75, of DeGraff passed away on May 7, 2023, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born November 28, 1947, in Kenton Ohio, the son of Marvin and Thelma (Maggert) Long. Russell worked as a semi-truck driver but was known as a jack of all traits, as he also worked with HVAC, welding and electrical. He enjoyed working with his hands, especially repairing mowers and small engines. He was a member and officer of F.O.E #3615 Lakeview Ohio. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, listening to country music and dancing. Russell was an avid John Wayne and Kansas City Chiefs fan. He also enjoyed doing word searches, puzzles and watching national tractor pull championships. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and his beloved pets.
Russell is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Long; Daughters Melissa (Greg) Steingass of Belle Center, Rebecca (Chris) Lance of Skidmore, MO, Tamara (Greg) Wyatt of DeGraff, Paula (Kurt) Beaty of Conover; sons Russ Long Jr of Napleon and Donnie Long of St. Joseph, MO; 14 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melinda Burton; sisters, Thelma Musselman, Marilyn Huseman, Ruth Holt and Wilma Long.
Funeral service will be at noon Friday, May 12, 2023 in the Atkins Shively & Vernon Funeral Home, Saint Paris, OH with Pastor Tina Fox officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m. to noon.
Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.
