Bruce and Louise Norris of Rushsylvania were recently presented with the Albert and Iris Gilbert Humanitarian Award during the Ohio District Kiwanis Convention in Toledo earlier this month.

This annual award is given to a Kiwanis member who as demonstrated a humanitarian heart in both their Kiwanis and community service activities.

Mr. and Mrs. Norris not only give of their time to the Kiwanis Club of Bellefontaine, but to several other organizations in the area, including the Logan County History Center, the Rushsylvania Lions Club and Mended Hearts.

Along with the award, they received a $200 check to the charity of their choice. They chose Our Daily Bread because that organization is one of the club’s service projects where the couple volunteers some of their time.

“Bruce and Louise exemplify what we all strive for in service to our community,” said Julie Schrader, club president, who nominated the couple for the award.
