The Rushcreek Township Fire & EMS Department is hosting a collection day Friday, March 3, for items to benefit residents of East Palestine following the train derailment Feb. 3.

Participants can stop at the fire house from 9 a.m. to noon and 4 to 7 p.m. Friday with their donations.

Suggested donations include: water, laundry soap, Clorox wipes, paper plates, paper towels, paper/plastic cups, plastic silverware, water filters, air purifiers and money.

“Basically, anything that is easily disposable and does not have an expiration date,” Fire and EMS representatives said. “The residents will appreciate anything. This situation is serious, and they need help.

“We already have some who have donated money and have offered support. We will make sure it gets there.”

Saturday morning, volunteers from the department will be delivering a truckload of water and supplies to East Palestine.
