Ronald Cox, 70 years old, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 10, 2024, following a short battle with cancer.

Ron was born in Urbana, Ohio on March 4, 1953 to Roscoe and June Cox. He attended Urbana High School and graduated in 1971. Later that year, on June 26, Ron married the love of his life, Sherry Peck. Soon after, Ron was hired at Daido Metals and worked there for the entirety of his 48-year career, retiring in March of 2019.

Throughout his life, Ron displayed a tireless work ethic and sincere love for his family and friends. His consistency and diligence were noticed by everyone around him, including his employer. When financial hardships forced the company to issue approximately 200 layoffs, Ron was one of two individuals granted the opportunity to continue at the warehouse.

He will be remembered for the special times he spent playing with his grandchildren, golfing with his friends and family, and following his favorite sports teams.

Near the end of his life, Ron experienced a miraculous transformation within his heart. He gave his life to God and became a member of the Church of God, finding true peace and joy as he faced his final days. This remarkable change was evident to everyone around him, despite his physical condition. The end of his life was undoubtedly marked by the mercy of our Great Creator.

Ron was preceded in death by parents, Roscoe and June; sisters, Dianne (Cox) Young and Hattie (Cox) Yoder; son-in-law, Richard Green; and grandchildren, Lyndsey Cox and Alexa Johnson.

Left to treasure his memory is wife of 52 years, Sherry Cox of Bellefontaine, OH; son Shawn Cox, children Tyler, Josh, Izik, and Hayden of Bellefontaine, OH; daughter Stacy Johnson, husband Dustin, children Dusty and Emma of Springfield, OH; daughter Lori Green, children Micah and Oliver Ronald of Coeur d’Alene, ID; brother Russ Cox, wife Mary of Springfield, OH; brother Roger Cox, wife Mickey of Belle Center, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pastor Nathan Price will officiate the funeral service on Tuesday, January 16, at 11 a.m. at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home & Crematory, celebrating his 70 years of life. Visitation will be Monday, January 15, from 3 to 6 p.m. and again Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Pastor Robert Green will deliver a committal service in Bellefontaine Cemetery, where Ron will be laid to rest.
