Rodney “Rod” E. Lease, 70, of Kenton, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, at his residence in Kenton.

He was born on July 27, 1953, in Kenton to the late Leonard Lease Jr. and Weltha J. (Rank) Lease. On December 4, 2004, he married Bonnie Barnhart, and she survives in Kenton.

Also surviving are a son; Mark Lease of Troy, a brother, Duane (Donna) Lease of North Point, FL, stepsons; George (Kristie) Kinney of Bellefontaine, Adam (Gretchen) Kinney of Marysville, grandchildren; Molli (Shawn) Buell, Kelsey Prater, Shawn and Patrick Kinney, Mason and Gabriella Kinney and a special nephew, Andrew (Erin) Boeger.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leonard Lease.

Rod was a lifelong resident of Kenton. He graduated from Kenton High School in the class of 1971. He worked for 32 years at AGC in Bellefontaine. That job took him all over the world including several trips to Japan, Europe and Mexico.

Rod was a motorhead. He rode his Harley all over the country and raced stock cars at the Shady Bowl and other tracks in the area. He was the season champ at Shady Bowl in 1979. He will be remembered for being humble, kind and for his quick wit.

At his request, there will be no services for Rod. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rodney’s honor may be made to Not By Choice.
