Rodney Frederick Brandt, 84, of Lewistown, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024 surrounded by his family.

Born to Orville F. Brandt and Faye (Harding) Brandt, at home, in Bloom Center on February 25, 1940, “just in time for dinner,” his mother would say. Graduating from Washington Local High School in 1958, he next attended The Ohio State University to study horticulture. He owned and operated Brandt’s Nursery along with his father and brother, Phil. Rodney, later adding pavers to his craft, became Brandt Landscaping and Pavers. Notable initiatives of his include paver projects at the Indian Lake High School courtyard, West Liberty sidewalks and Hardin County Courthouse, as well as many other businesses and homes in the area. Rodney served as a member of the Indian Lake Masonic Temple.

Rodney shared four children with his wife, Kay (Dever) Brandt, who preceded him in death in 1997. Son Rodney Lee Brandt preceded him in 1969.

Surviving him is his daughter Christina (Dean) Wright, sons Curtis (Cheryl) Brandt and Joseph Brandt; grandchildren Isaac (Sarah) Wright, Jared (Caleigh) Wright, Kaylyn (Shane) Workman, Noah Brandt, Joy (David) Stroud, Claire (Luke) Stroud and Zane Brandt; great-grandchildren Haedyn Hinkle, Henley Workman, Kolton Workman, Garrett Workman, Peyton Wright and Asher Wright; sister Shirley Pettit, sisters-in-law Beverley Rinaldi and Shirley Brandt; as well as two soon-to-be-born great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces; close friend, Rebecca Allen.

Preceding him in death are his parents Orville and Faye Brandt; wife Kay Brandt; son Rodney Lee Brandt; sister Vivian Patrick and brothers Jack (Betty) Brandt and Phil Brandt; father-in-law Floyd Dever and mother-in-law Mary Dever.

A Celebration of Life for close friends and family will be announced, at a later date. Rodney proudly donated his body to The Ohio State University to assist scientific research.
