Quinn Roby has been selected as the 2023 poppy queen for the Willard Stout American Legion Auxiliary Post 266 in Belle Center.

The American Legion Auxiliary and its volunteers will distribute the red crepe paper poppies for donation on Saturday, May 27, in Belle Center.

The donations assist disabled and hospitalized veterans. The Poppy Program is a source of income for the veterans.

Quinn is a daughter of Brett and Lexi Roby of Belle Center. She is the granddaughter of Tim and Jen Newland and the late Patricia and Willis Roby Jr. and the great-granddaughter of Donna Hesser and the late Gary Hesser.

Both Mr. Roby and Mr. Hesser proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Quinn will be a first-grader at Benjamin Logan Elementary School next year. She plays T-ball and enjoys reading and coloring.

The poppy has been the official flower of the American Legion since 1920. The poppy is a symbol of sacrifice and is worn to honor the men and woman who have fought for and died for our country in all wars, including the Global War on Terror.

“It reminds us of the sacrifices and continuing needs of our veterans and service members,” American Legion Auxiliary members noted.
