Riverside tops Graham, Bellefontaine in Acme sectional baseball tournament

Riverside’s Acme baseball team won its first two Acme sectional tournament games over the weekend, defeating Graham 10-4 on Saturday and beating Bellefontaine 8-3 on Sunday.

In the win over Graham, Landon Purtee earned the complete game victory on the mound for the Pirates. He allowed seven hits, struck out 11 and did not allow an earned run. Offensively for the the Pirates, Aiden Manning had three hits and three RBI and Gavin Orsborne had two hits, including a triple, and an RBI. Cooper Crouch added two hits and an RBI.

Riverside trailed Bellefontaine 2-0 after two innings on Sunday, but the Pirates scored three runs in the top of the third to lead 3-2.

Bellefontaine tied the score at 3-3 with a run in the third inning. Riverside took the lead for good with three runs in the fifth. The Pirates tacked on two more runs in the seventh.

Crouch went 4-4 with a double and two RBI to lead Riverside at the plate. Purtee went 3-3, Orsborne went 2-4 with an RBI and Manning had three RBI. Crouch was the winning pitcher. He went 6 1/3 innings, giving up just three hits and one earned run. He struck out seven and walked eight.
