Riverside sweeps the stage at the Region 16 BPA contest

Riverside Business Professionals of America students made 122 trips to the stage to collect their hardware for placing in the top 10 of contests during a recent awards ceremony at the Region 16 BPA Competition at Ohio Northern University.

Following their success at the regional contest, 43 Riverside students are now advancing state competition in March.

The diverse career tech student organization at Riverside boasts a total of 112 members who took more than 400 contests to regionals.

Riverside advisers Lindsay Wyan and Courtney Deady have applauded all their students’ efforts.

The following students have earned a spot at the state contest:
Banking & Finance – Jaxon Woods, Eli Kindle.
Financial Analyst Team – Faith Brownlee, Gage Stevenson.

Personal Financial Management – Rylee McCully.
Fundamental Word Processing – Hadlie Asbury.
Intermediate Word Processing – Makayla Mees, Alex Thuel.
Advanced Word Processing – Zack Hall, Brook Hunkler.
Basic Office Systems & Procedures – Sam King, Shaye McGill, Corwin Bell.
Advanced Office Systems & Procedures – Kristina Plank, Savanna Salo.
Legal Office Procedures – Jailyn Leeper.
Administrative Support Research Project – Julia Fleming.
Fundamental Desktop Publishing – Lillian Zwiebel.

Parliamentary Procedure Team – Jorden Dunham, Jayden Hoffer, Jaidyn Jackson, Brice Kauffman, Hayden McCully, Avery Perk, Gavin Orsborne, Kaitlyn Schlumbohm.
Presentation Management Team – Carter Kreglow, Morgan Shockey, Sienna Stewart.
Health Administration Procedures – Ayden Phelps, Kelsey Burt.
Health Research Presentation – Hailey Noggler.

State BPA Officer Carter Kreglow and his Presentation Management team are among those advancing to state competition. His other teammates include Sienna Stewart and Morgan Shockey.

Carter is the youngest state officer to serve from Riverside and continues to seek new and growth opportunities, according to Wyan.

“He is an extremely ambitious young man. Two years ago, he had the opportunity to begin an early college education, but realized he wanted to seize the opportunities available in high school.”

Also among the Riverside state competitors are the Klingler sisters, Kara and Ava. Kara is only a freshman advancing to state in a judged event and will compete in Prepared Speech. Kara and most other qualifiers had to compete against juniors and seniors from the other career tech programs around the region.

Ava is a four-time state qualifier will compete this year on the Small Business Management Team.

In addition to the team and individual contests, eight student members received their Diplomat torch award. These students include Faith Brownlee, Eli Kindle, Kara Klingler, Rylee McCully, Ashley Roach, Gavin Robinson, Morgan Shockey and Sienna Stewart.

This is an award earned by students exemplifying high levels of leadership, service, cooperation, friendship, knowledge, and citizenship in their schools and communities.

The Business Professionals of America is a Career Tech Student Organization that includes 45,000 BPA members in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, 9,800 in Ohio and 400 in the region.
