Riverside girls fall to Bethel

Riverside lost to Bethel 53-29 in a Three Rivers Conference girls basketball game on Thursday.

The Lady Pirates are now 1-4 in the TRC and 4-6 overall.

Kenna Johnson had eight points, and Emilee Robinson added seven for the Lady Pirates.

Bethel led 30-6 at the half and 45-19 after three quarters.

In the JV game, Bethel outscored Riverside 24-14 in two quarters. Chloe Purtee had five points for Riverside.

Riverside hosts Covington today at 11 a.m. in a varsity-only contest.

BOWLING

Bellefontaine sets record in win

The Bellefontaine girls bowling team defeated London 2,818 to 2,178 in a Central Buckeye Conference match on Friday.

The 2,818 pins is a school record for Bellefontaine, beating the old mark of 2,774.

Gracie Hood had the high series at 469 (266-203), with Haylee Yelton next at 451 (235-216). They were followed by Chloe Heminger at 396 (193-203) and Nevaeh LaFollette at 388 (183-205). Other game scores were Avery Mullins (176) and Rylee Anderson with 161.

They had 2,041 pins in regular games and a Baker games total of 777.

Bellefontaine won the JV match 1,867 to 1,428. Isabelle Gunnett had a 307 series (146-161), Kinzie Bernard had 303 (147-156), and Addison Prosser had a 300 (143-157). Kyrah Moon had a 124 game as well.

Bellefontaine faces Northwestern on Jan. 8.

In the boys match, London defeated the Chieftains 2,446 to 2,320.

Colton Wisner led Bellefontaine with a 382 series (207-175). Next was David Allen with 358 (146-212), then Alex Moon at 344 (161-183) and Rory Pierce at 307 (147-160). Alex Williams (158) and Robert Spain (140 game) also figured in the team scoring.

Bellefontaine had 1,689 in the two regular games and 631 in the four Baker games.

Riverside seventh at tourney

The Riverside boys bowling team finished seventh at the Bellefontaine Holiday Classic on Monday. Cooper Crouch had a 695 series, which was first overall for individuals.

Tigers sweep Bethel

The West Liberty-Salem boys and girls bowling teams faced Bethel in non conference matches Thursday afternoon.

The Tigers won the boys match by a total of 2,188 to Bethel’s 2,007. 

Devon Jones led WL-S with a 441 series (258-183), followed by Tucker Searles at 403 (230-173), Luke Thomas 366 (185-181), and Zander Gluckle 362 (174-188). Also part of the team total were Evan Borgerding with 122 in the first game and Brock Mills with 147 in the second game.

They had 347 in two Baker games and 1,841 in the regular games.

For the girls, they had a total of 1,853 pins to Bethel’s 1,522.

Sadie Paul had the high series of 379 (190-189) for WL-S.  Next was Alyssa Mueller at 335 (168-167), then Elli Ullery 306 (145-161) and Lilly Gearheart 279 (172-107). Jenny Reprogle had 117 in the first game and Kathy Roehm rolled 134 in the second.

They had 1,550 pins in regular games and 313 in the two Baker games.

Scores for the junior varsity boys were Austin Markin 198, Carson Kerns 147, Patrick Brooks 136, Jerome Cordrey 124, and Xzavior Nicholl 93.

West Liberty-Salem (2-1 OHC, 6-2) will face Madison Plains on Monday at 4 p.m. The match is at the London Lanes.

Tigers teams get wins

The West Liberty-Salem seventh grade girls basketball team defeated Cedarville 24-19 on Thursday.

Rylee Falloon had 10 points, Bella Johnson nine, Lilly Yeater three and Avery Randall two.

The West Liberty-Salem eighth grade boys basketball team topped Cedarville 46-39 on Thursday.

Brandel Sullivan led the Tigers with 24 points. Isaiah Barth had eight, Tyler Hershberger five, Eli Jones and Grant Krabill four each, and Rylan Leichty got one.
