Riverside boys win sectional bowling title

Raiders, Lakers also advance to districts

Riverside’s boys bowling team turned in an historic performance Thursday in winning the Division II boys sectional bowling title at Poelking Marian Lanes in Huber Heights.

The Pirates had a team game of 1,105 to break a school record and then added games of 1,072 and 1,089. They continued to shine during the six baker games to tally a tournament best total of 3,266.

The top 12 teams earned spots in next week’s district tournament.

Also advancing along with Riverside were Benjamin Logan and Indian Lake. The Raiders totaled a score of 2,782 to place seventh and Indian Lake was 11th with a tally of 2,702.

West Liberty-Salem also competed and finished 20th with a total of 2,207.

Graham was the sectional runner-up (3,028), Northwestern was third (2,853), Versailles placed fourth (2,756) and Kenton Ridge was fifth (2,825).

The Pirates were powered by senior Andrew Knight and junior Sam King.

Knight rolled games of 267, 221 and 213 to place second in the individual standings with a series of 701.

King finished right behind Knight in third place with games of 203, 267 and 226 for a 696 series.

Also for the Pirates, Zander Crouch was seventh with games of 225, 205 and 247 for a 677 series. Tyler Knight had games of 183, 174 and 234 for a 602 series, Gage Stevenson added games of 227, 205 and 157 for a 589 series.

For Ben Logan, Gage Hamm led the way with a 623 series. That included games of 164, 235 and 224.

Jarrett Buckenroth tallied games of 184, 184 and 234 for a 602 series, Caleb Knight posted games of 204, 196 and 149 for a 549 series, Nate Davis rolled a 219 game and Landon Stoodt had a 185 game.

Kolby Long paced Indian Lake with games of 221, 159 and 245 for a 625 series. Beau Young had games of 197, 184 and 234 for a 600 series, Zach Lemmings had games of 199, 192 and 155 for a 546 series, Chase McMillen had a 190 game and RJ Holbrook added a 174 game.

While WL-Salem did not advance as a team, Eli Ullery moved on to districts as an individual with a 594 series. He rolled games of 162, 206 and 226. Kaden Francis had a 185 game for the Tigers.

The Division II boys district tournament is Tuesday at Beaver-Vu Lanes.
