Riverside boys can’t catch Buccs

Basketball b 300Riverside’s boys basketball team was unable to recover from a slow start Friday with a 67-60 loss at Covington in Three Rivers Conference action.

The Pirates are now 6-13 overall and 2-11 in the TRC. Covington improves to 6-15, 1-12.

Covington grabbed a 19-7 lead after the first quarter and the Buccs led 34-24 at halftime.

The Buccs held a nine-point cushion (52-43) after three quarters and held off the Pirates in the fourth quarter to wrap up the win.

Myles Platfoot led the Pirates with 21 points, three rebounds and three steals. Warren Shockey had 13 points and three steals and Ayden Clary chipped in eight points, seven assists and four blocks.

Bryson Hite led the Buccs with a game-high 27 points.

In the junior varsity game, Riverside won 48-32. Jenkins had 16 points and Anderson had 12 for the Pirates.

Riverside is back in action tonight at Fairlawn.
