Riley pleads not guilty to attempted murder, other charges; bond set at $1M

A Logan County grand jury last week indicted Dennis Riley, 43, of Dayton, on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from a domestic violence investigation.

According to court records, Riley faces charges of attempted murder, a first-degree felony; strangulation, a third-degree felony; and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. The indictment also includes a firearm specification, which carries a mandatory three-year prison sentence if convicted.

The defendant was arrested approximately one week after the indictment and is being held in the Logan County Jail.

Washington Township Police said the charges stem from an investigation that took place over an extended period of time. No additional details have been released.

Court records indicate Riley was arraigned and entered a not guilty plea. The court appointed Addie J. King as defense counsel.

Bond was set at $1 million cash or surety, with conditions.

A pretrial conference is scheduled for March 16, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., and a jury trial is scheduled for April 6, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in Logan County Common Pleas Court.

The case remains under investigation, and additional charges may be pending.
