Ricki Lee “Rick” Schmidt, 67, of Lakeview, OH, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Mary Rutan Hospital Emergency Department, Bellefontaine, OH.
Rick was born on July 9, 1955, in East Liverpool, OH, a son of the late Frank, Jr. and Dora Newlan Schmidt. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Schmidt III.
Rick is survived by his children, Nikki (Bobby) Howard, Billy (Kira) Black, and Amy Gerard Butterfield, 11 grandchildren, Trenton (Makenzie) Butterfield, Tyler Butterfield, Jasmine (Chase Pence) Butterfield, Tatum (David) Reisinger, Baylee Howard, Abby (Collin Watterson) Howard, Kadin Howard, Hayli Hamilton, Davien Hamilton, Brody Black, and Jaxen Black, seven great grandchildren, Cessaley, Jace and Paisley Reisinger, Ezrah Howard, Huxton and Peyslei Pence, and Maybree Butterfield, two siblings, Vicki (Dick) Sell, and Benny Schmidt, niece, Janika Owen, nephews, Aaron Potts, and Frank Schmidt IV, and longtime friends, Gene Elliott, and Mike Davis.
Rick attended Wellsville High School. He formerly worked at Plastipak and World Class Plastics. Rick was an avid hunter, and fisherman, who enjoyed boating, playing billiards, and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rick loved 4th of July Parties, entertaining and being with family and friends, and playing with his grandchildren.
A Gathering of Remembrance will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview.
