Richard “Dick” David Kelley, died at age 83 on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Mary Rutan Hospital after a short stay in rehab.
Dick received his bachelor’s degree at Ohio Northern University in Business. He made a life of caring for his family by taking on various jobs including Mortgage Banker and part owner of a wire harness business.
In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, was an avid card player, was a fisherman extraordinaire with his family and friends, master woodworker, and even enjoyed gardening. He had a great sense of humor and loved to be busy.
He had an exceptional love of planes and enjoyed watching the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels with his family. He loved to travel with his family and cruised around the Caribbean and Mexico as often as he could.
He is survived by his beautiful wife of 62 years Louann Kelley, his children: Julie Shieldcastle (Mark), David Kelley (Kimber) and Jason Kelley (Stephanie), as well as four grandchildren: Nathan Kelley, Mikaela Madden (Brenden), Adrienne Kelley, and Taylor Kelley. Additionally, he is survived by his caring sister Jean Robinson (Robert).
Dick also leaves many other family members and friends who will greatly miss his jokes and love.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Helen, and sister Jeannette.
A Ceremony of Life to honor the life of Richard Kelley will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, at the First United Methodist Church, 201 N. Main St., Bellefontaine.
Donations may be made in his honor to Columbus Springs Rehabilitation, 7625 Hospital Dr., Dublin, Ohio 43016 or First United Methodist Church, 201 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311.
Flowers may be sent to the First United Methodist Church for celebration ceremony.
