Repeat violent offender charged with domestic violence

Andre Allen, 44, of Bellefontaine, was arrested around 11 p.m., Sunday, June 16, on multiple charges resulting from a domestic violence investigation conducted by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.

Police were dispatched to a residence on Greenwood Street in reference to a domestic dispute involving a male suspect sleeping in his car in the victim’s driveway. Upon arrival, police were told that Allen had previously tackled and threatened the victim in a dispute over his belongings. The victim told officers Allen had pushed her to the ground and graphically threatened her life in front of her young children.

As the victim reportedly went into a bedroom to collect more of the suspect’s belongings, Allen cornered the victim and continued to threaten and corner her in the bedroom. Much of the incident was recorded by the victim’s 14-year-old children.

Police were shown the recordings and report Allen can be heard screaming at threatening the victim.

Allen has a previous conviction for aggravated murder in 2002, police report. He was charged with domestic violence and aggravated menacing and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
