Rebecca L. “Becky” Callender-Owens passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Central Ohio Hospice within The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus. She was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on June 8, 1952, to the late Keith Leslie and Marjorie Gretchen (Bosley) McNeill. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Doug McNeill and sister, Loralee McNeill.
A 1970 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, she also earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from The Ohio State University and Ball State University. Her career consisted of working as director of several public libraries including the Logan County District Library. She was very active in her church, particularly within the music and financial departments.
She is survived by her significant other, Paul Owens of Groveport; sister, Susie Harvey of Florida; nephew, Van (Vicki) Harvey of Florida; stepdaughter, Lindsey (Louis) Jordan of Blacklick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rev. John Romig will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the Gender Road Christian Church, 5336 Gender Road, Canal Winchester, Ohio 43110. Visitation will be Monday, May 19, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church and also before the service Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:00.
There will also be visitation on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Eichholtz Daring and Sanford Funeral Home from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m., with a graveside service at Bellefontaine Cemetery to follow.
