Raymond Hays Bloom passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2024, at Baptist Health, Lexington, with his loving family by his side.
Born May 31, 1938, in Kenton Ohio, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Preceded in death by parents James and Virginia Bloom, Belle Center, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sharon, sons, Jamie (Angie) Bloom of Richmond and Tom Bloom of Hebron, and grandchildren Hayden, Myles, and Cooper.
A graduate of the University of Cincinnati and longtime member of the Versailles Presbyterian Church, he served as both a deacon and elder for many years. He worked for Underwriters Laboratories his entire working career and wholeheartedly believed in the values they represented. Known by family and friends as a “fixer”, he could repair nearly anything mechanical and could always be counted on for sage advice. We will miss him more than he could ever imagine.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at Rose Crest Cemetery. Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Greater Kentucky Chapter, 6100 Dutchman’s Lane, Suite 401, Louisville, KY 40205.
Family and friends are encouraged to share memories and leave messages of condolence on Raymond’s tribute wall at www.BlackburnandWard.com.
