Raiders use big inning to upend Chiefs

Benjamin Logan scored all eight of its runs in the third inning en route to an 8-2 victory over host Bellefontaine in a Central Buckeye Conference baseball game Friday.

It was the first win of the season for the Raiders, who are now 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the CBC.

The Chiefs remain winless at 0-4, 0-3.

After two scoreless innings to start the game, Ben Logan erupted for its big top of the third inning to take control.

The Chiefs mustered just one run in the bottom of the third and one more in the fifth.

Hayden Kennaw went six innings on the mound to get the win for the Raiders. He allowed three hits, one earned run, struck out eight and walker four.

Offensively for the Raiders, Kam Allen went 2-5 with an RBI, Keaton Horney went 3-3 with a double and three RBI and EJ Martin went 2-3 with an RBI.

Owen Larison had an RBI for the Chiefs.

Both teams are back in action today. The Raiders host Arcanum and Bellefontaine is at home against Triad.

Chiefs blanked by Cougars

Prior to Friday’s game against Ben Logan, Bellefontaine lost to visiting Kenton Ridge 11-0 in five innings Thursday.

The Cougars scored twice in the first inning and put seven runs on the scoreboard in the third to make it 9-0. The visitors added the more runs in the fourth.

Bellefontaine was held to two hits.

Indian Lake wins pair

Indian Lake’s baseball team shut out North Union for a 2-0 win Thursday and the Lakers followed with an 8-0 blanking of host London on Friday in a pair of Central Buckeye Conference games.

The Lakers are now 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the CBC.

In Thursday’s game, the Lakers plated two runs in the seventh inning to pull out the win.

Camdon Tuttle went the distance on the mound to get the win. He allowed just two hits and struck out four.

Lane Tucci had an RBI to lead the IL offense.

In Friday’s win over London, the Lakers piled up 13 hits.

Tuttle went 2-3 with two RBI, Tucci went 2-3 with an RBI, Rece Kimmel went 2-3, Maddux Hall went 2-4 with an RBI and Bryce Burton was 2-3 with two RBI to spark the IL offense.

Burke Lillard tossed all seven innings on the mound for the Lakers. He scattered seven hits and struck out four in his shutout victory.

The Lakers play at Anna today.

Pirates edged by Lehman, get win over ME

Riverside’s baseball team lost to visiting Lehman Catholic 4-2 on Thursday before bouncing back to beat host Miami East 8-2 on Friday in a pair of Three Rivers Conference games.

The Pirates are now 4-5 overall and 3-2 in the TRC.

In Thursday’s game, the score was tied 2-2 after three innings.

Lehman went ahead 3-2 with a run in the fifth and tacked on another run in the seventh.

The Pirates only allowed two hits despite suffering the loss.

Gavin Orsborne and Landon Purtee each had an RBI to lead Riverside at the plate.

The Pirates got off to a fast start Friday, scoring twice in the first inning and again in the second to lead 3-0.

Riverside added a run in the fourth and one in the top of the sixth to lead 5-0.

The Vikings scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to make it 5-2, but the Pirates answered with three runs in the top of the seventh.

Warren Shockey threw a complete game to get the win on the mound. He did not allow an earned run, struck out six and walked one.

At the plate, Shockey went 2-3, Orsborne was 3-5 with two RBI, Sam King had two RBI and Simon Godwin went 2-2 with an RBI.

The Pirates play at Fairbanks today.

Tigers clip Rams

West Liberty-Salem pulled out a 6-4 win over visiting Greeneview in an Ohio Heritage

Conference baseball game Friday.

The Tigers are now 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the OHC. The Rams fall to 3-1, 1-1.
WL-S raced out to a 5-0 lead after one inning.

The Rams scored a run in the second and a run in the third to make it 5-2.

The Tigers plated their final run in the fourth for a 6-2 lead.

The Rams scored a run in the sixth and another in the seventh, but WL-S was able to hang on for the win.

Jake Evans went all seven innings on the mound to get the win for the Tigers. He allowed six hits, one earned run and struck out 10.

Offensively, Austin Olejniczak had a double, Payton Knight had two hits and Jayden Temple had two hits and an RBI to lead the Tigers.

The Tigers play at Wapakoneta today.
