Benjamin Logan’s athletic department hired a familiar face to fill the vacancy atop its baseball program.
Jeremy Allen, who has served in various coaching roles in the basketball, football and baseball programs for the past 25 years at Ben Logan, will replace Scott Wilson as the Raiders’ head baseball coach.
“I want to continue the winning tradition that Coach (Doug) Rutan and Coach Wilson have set as the standard for Ben Logan baseball,” said Allen in a press release. “League titles and state championship will always be a goal, but building relationships and representing your school at the highest level is an absolute honor.
“With this honor comes responsibility. The pressure to perform. To meet expectations of the community. Becoming a role model to others. Our students need to understand and appreciate that coaches and teachers always have their best interest in mind, not only regarding their abilities on the field, but also the kind of person they are and values they display off the field.”
With his deep ties to the BL athletic community, it should be a smooth transition for Allen and the baseball squad.
“Coach Allen desires to take the baseball program to a new level of success,” said Ben Logan athletic director Beau Harmon. “He is completely bought in and the love and passion for Benjamin Logan athletics shown by Coach Allen and his family are deeply appreciated. We look forward to what Coach Allen brings to the future of Raider baseball.”
Allen will take over a program that is used to winning at a high level. The Raiders have won four straight Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division championships.
They went 27-2 overall and 15-1 in the CBC during the 2021 season and are coming off a 2022 campaign that saw the Raiders go 16-4 overall and 13-3 in the CBC.
The decision to hire Allen is pending board approval at its Feb. 27 meeting.
