R. Scott Maier, 68, of West Liberty, took his first breath in heaven on Friday, January 19, 2024, at his residence.

He was born on June 10, 1955, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to his loving parents, Robert Saxton and Betty Jo (Bowsher) Maier. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robby Sean Maier in 2009 and a brother, Richard Steven Maier in 2017.

Scott is survived by his devoted wife Shannon (Brackney) Maier; their loving children, Brooke (Justin) Williams of Fulton, Ohio, Bailey (Chris) Williams of West Liberty, OH, and Ryan Maier of Columbus; precious grandchildren Montgomery, Beckham, Rush, Briggs, Boone, and Dixie; and his sister Sherry (Brad) Wilkins of Bellefontaine.

Scott lived a fulfilling life, dedicating many years working as a heavy equipment operator for Northwood Stone & Asphalt in Belle Center before retiring. An honorable U.S. Army veteran, Scott served his country with pride and dedication. His deep-rooted sense of duty and loyalty extended beyond his military service as he displayed unwavering love and support for his family. Scott’s pride and joy were his beloved wife, whom he adored unconditionally. He was her number one fan and their love for each other was evident to all who knew them. Together they created a strong and loving foundation that supported their children and grandchildren through all of life’s joys and challenges.

Scott possessed a wonderful sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him. He had an innate ability to bring out the best in people through laughter and kindness. While he occasionally displayed an ornery side to his personality, it was always coupled with a servant’s heart as he selflessly assisted others.

In his leisure time, Scott found solace outdoors while pursuing one of his passions, hunting. The serenity of the natural world provided him with comfort and joy. Additionally, he was an avid supporter of the Cleveland Browns, loyally cheering them on during their triumphs and challenges.

Visitation will be at the Bellefontaine First Church of God, 1000 E Brown Ave, Bellefontaine, OH 43311, on Sunday, January 21, from 2 to 6 p.m. Pastors Gary Brown and Norman Stanley will officiate a Celebration of Life service at the Bellefontaine First Church of God on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 6 p.m.

Scott Maier will forever be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched, inspiring all to find joy in the simplest moments and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.

Memorial contributions may be made to Journey Living Ministries, P.O. Box 307, West Liberty, Ohio 43357, as a heartfelt tribute to Scott’s memory.

Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, is honored to serve the Maier family and encourages anyone to share a fond memory or message of condolence at www.edsfh.com.
