Quilters’ handiwork showcased throughout fair week

With more than 100 quilt entries this year, the Logan County Fair Quilt Show continues its tradition of beautiful quilts and quilted items lovingly created by the talented members of the community.

Quilting entries are on display throughout this week at the open class building for fairgoers to check out the handcrafted items.
The open class quilt judging took place just prior to the start of the fair on Saturday, July 8.

Yvonne Siler received Best of Show in both Divisions 1 and 2, with a blue, white and yellow quilt and a black, gray and scarlet quilt with a three-dimensional design.
Fellow Best of Show winners included Kim Comer, who the top award in Division 4 featuring a custom quilted purple and light green wall hanging; Nancy Losey in Division 5 for her reverse applique dragonfly quilt in the theme category of two color quilts; and Anita Stanley in Division 3 for her a red, black and white snowman quilt.

Lois Stoll won two Reserve Best of Shows in Divisions 4 and 5, featuring a quilt from a Mystery Sew Along and a pieced top from a pattern created by Robin Pickens;
Sue Fullerton received the Reserve Best of Show award in Division Two for her quilted wall hanging featuring cross stitch squares.

Reserve Best of Show in Division 1 went to Jodie Kavanaugh for her hand quilted a paper pieced wreath.

Also on display throughout the week at the open class building is the Logan Piecemakers’ Scarlet, Gray and White raffle quilt for 2023, which salutes the OSU Buckeyes.

Tickets can be purchased from any member through mid-December when a winner will be drawn. Proceeds from the raffle will support quilt-related activities including a quilting service project for 2024.

For the 2023, service project members made more than 100 “fidget mats” to deliver to area nursing homes for residents to enjoy.
