Additional patrols are scheduled to be dispatched in the area of Albert Street in the area of west Williams and Jay avenues as officers of Bellefontaine Police Department follow up on a report of suspected drug activity.

Officers were called to the lobby of the police department a short time before 5:45 p.m., Monday, Oct. 16, to speak with a woman who reported suspicious drug-related activity from multiple houses in that area.

The woman reported to police she’s concerned for the individual’s well-being, but is also concerned for her own safety as people are knocking on doors and coming in and out of houses at all hours of the night. She also said that residents in the suspected houses show physical signs of drug abuse, including having sores covering their face.

She told police that foot traffic can be “constantly” heard knocking on doors and that the signs of drug use are “apparent.”

Police are investigating this complaint, and told the woman that extra patrols will be dispatched through the area for additional observation.
