Pirates sting Bees for TRC softball win

Host Riverside used a balanced hitting and a strong pitching performance to top visiting Bethel 6-1 in a Three Rivers Conference softball game Tuesday.

The Pirates improve to 8-4 overall and 5-1 in the TRC. Bethel drops to 5-11, 3-4.

The score was tied 1-1 after the first inning.

Riverside grabbed a 4-1 lead with three runs in the third frame. The Pirates added two more runs in the sixth.

Alaina Snow earned the win in the pitching circle. She went the distance, allowing just one hits and striking out 10 without a walk.

Offensively for the Pirates, Jade Copas went 3-4 with two doubles, Riley Dillon went 2-4 with a double, Taylor Dillon went 2-4 with an RBI and Snow went 2-2 with one RBI.

The Pirates play Thursday at home against Northridge.

Lakers stay atop CBC MR with win over Graham

Indian Lake’s softball team piled up 14 hits en route to an 8-1 win over host Graham in Central Buckeye Conference action Tuesday.

The Lakers, who are ranked second in the first Division III state coaches poll of the season, are now 13-1 overall. They improve to 7-1 in the CBC Mad River division.

Graham falls to 3-8, 1-7.

The Lakers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

Graham scored once in the third to make it 3-1, but the Lakers answered with two runs in the fourth and two in the fifth to lead 7-1.

Indian Lake tacked on an insurance run in the sixth.

Mackenzie Dixon went 4-4 with two triples and two RBI to spark the Indian Lake offense.

Also for the Lakers, Hailee Edwards was 3-4, Halle Roby was 2-4 with a triple and two RBI, Madison Brentlinger had a double and Kayleigh Zedlitz had a double and an RBI.

Brentlinger went the distance in the pitching circle to get the win. She allowed five hits, struck out six and did not walk a batter.

The Lakers are back in action today at home against the Falcons.

Raiders rout Warriors

The bats were hot for Benjamin Logan on Tuesday as the Raiders thumped host Northwestern 16-7 in a Central Buckeye Conference softball game.

The Raiders are now 9-2 overall and 6-2 in the CBC. The Warriors slip to 3-7, 2-6.

Northwestern took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but that was short lived as the Raiders came back with five runs in the second and two in the top of the third to lead 7-2.

The Warriors plated two runs in the bottom of the third and scored a run in the fourth to make it 7-5.

The Raiders scored three times in the top of the fifth for a 10-5 advantage.

The Warriors answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 10-7.

Ben Logan pulled away from there, scoring three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh.

The Raiders collected 15 hits on the day.

Elliott Bailey went 2-5 with a double, home run and three RBI and Brooks Myers went 4-4 with two RBI to fuel the Ben Logan hitting attack.

Also for the Raiders, Kyah Moore went 2-4 with a double, Rylan Norviel had a home run and two RBI, Jillian Plikerd had a double, Kenzee Roseburrough was 2-5 with a home run and two RBI and Libby Siefring had three RBI.

Chloe Crumm went the distance in the circle to get the win.

Ben Logan will host the Warriors today.

Tigers shut out Cedarville

West Liberty-Salem’s softball team blanked Cedarville 10-0 in five innings in Ohio Heritage Conference action Tuesday.

The Tigers improve to 4-7 overall and 4-5 in the OHC. Cedarville is now 7-8, 2-7.

WL-S scored all of its runs in the first two innings. The Tigers plated five in the first and five more in the second.

Kennedy Wallace allowed just two hits as she earned the win in the circle. She struck out eight and did not walk a batter.

At the plate for the Tigers, Kaylee Blair went 2-3 with an RBI, Whitney Strapp went 2-4 with a double and two RBI and Wallace added two RBI.

The Tigers play Friday at home against Northeastern.

Braves outlast Chiefs

Host Springfield Shawnee scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out a 13-12 win over Bellefontaine in a Central Buckeye Conference softball game Tuesday.

The Chiefs drop to 6-7 overall and 3-5 in the CBC. The Braves improve to 3-7, 1-7.

The Chiefs led 9-0 after two innings, but the Braves battled back.

Shawnee scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 9-4.

After BHS plated one run in the top of the sixth, the Braves scored four more runs in the bottom of the inning to make the score 10-8.

Bellefontaine increased its lead to 12-8 with two runs in the top of the seventh, but the Braves came back with five runs to win it in the bottom of the seventh.

Averie Vigansky went 3-4 with two doubles to lead the Bellefontaine offense. Rianna Fullerton was 3-4, Kassi Prine was 2-4 and Aubrey Hudson was 2-4 with a triple.

Bellefontaine hosts the Braves today.
