Pirates fall short against Miami East

Riverside’s boys basketball team put up a good fifth against a strong Miami East squad Tuesday, but the host Pirates fell 69-57 in a Three Rivers Conference contest.

The Pirates drop to 6-12 overall and 2-10 in the TRC. The Vikings improve to 18-2, 11-1.

Riverside trailed by just two points (18-16) after one quarter. Miami East opened some breathing room for itself in the second period to lead 32-24 at halftime.

The Vikings pushed their lead to 10 points (51-41) after three quarters and they stayed in control in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Gavin Orsborne led the Pirates with 14 points and two steals. Dominik Stotler had nine points and four steals and Kaleb Schindewolf added seven points, five rebounds and three assists.

Wes Enis scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Vikings.

In the junior varsity game, Riverside lost 67-42. Reece Jenkins and Brice Kauffman each scored nine points to lead the Pirates. Dylan Burchett had 11 rebounds.

Miami East won the freshman game 47-25. Hayden Sanford had nine points and Camden Shoe and Grady Jenkins each scored eight for the Pirates.

Riverside plays at Covington on Friday.
