Penny Sewell Boose, 78, of Vero Beach, Fla., passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025, at VNA Hospice House, Indian River County, Fla. 

She was born in Kenton, Ohio, on Sept. 24, 1946, the oldest of three children to George H. Sewell and Phyllis M. Sewell of Mt. Victory, Ohio.

Penny is survived by her husband, Douglas Boose, whom she married on Dec. 10, 1994, at the Tropicana Resort in Las Vegas. 

Penny is also survived by her mother Phyllis Sewell, sisters Cathy (Ron) Cronley and Marsha (Gary) Rutledge;  and stepchildren Tamara Boose and Timothy Boose. She was a loving aunt/mother figure to nephews Lance (Lindsey) Cronley, Shane (Deja) Cronley, Matt Cronley, Scott Richardson and Charles Johns. She was “Great Aunt Money” to Max, Vince, Olivia, J.D., Scarlett, Dean, Hunter, Tyler, Erin, Jayces, Teagan, Alera, Selah, Acelynn and Kailyn. 

Penny was a 1964 graduate of Ridgemont High School. She had a long career in various positions as a truck stop store manager in Lamar, Colo.; Tucumcari, N.M.; and Bakersfield, Calif. Penny then left Petro and worked at Kohl’s department stores as a department supervisor and office manager until retirement, at which time Doug and Penny moved to Vero Beach, Fla. 

There will not be any services. Penny’s wishes were to be cremated and interment will be at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, located down the road from the family farm where she was born and raised. Penny wanted her Celebration of Life to be that any and all come to sit on her bench at Mount Pleasant for reflection.
