A familiar name and face is set to lead the Bellefontaine football program.

Pending board approval, Bellefontaine athletic director Matt Comstock has selected Aaron Peitsmeyer as the Chiefs’ next head football coach.

Peitsmeyer was the Chiefs’ associate head coach this season.

He takes over for Jason Brown, who recently resigned after four years leading the program. It was his second stint as head coach.

Aaron Peitsmeyer, who graduated from BHS in 2002, played football for his late father Greg Peitsmeyer.

Aaron Peitsmeyee was an assistant coach at Marysville for 15 years beginning in 2007.

He was the defensive coordinator on the Monarchs 2021 team, which advanced to the Division I regional final.

“We felt that hiring from within our current staff was the best way to continue the momentum and philosophies that have been built over the past few seasons. Coach P knows what Chieftain Football is about and takes pride in its success,” said Comstock.

Peitsmeyer is a business teacher at BHS.

The vote on Peitsmeyer’s hiring will be conducted at the next board meeting, Jan. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Distance Learning Center.
