Paula M. Shirey, 59, of Rushsylvania, passed away Monday morning, October 14, 2024, at Ohio Health Marion General Hospital.
Paula was born in Springfield, Ohio, on March 7, 1965, to the late Harold Joseph Bechtel and Peggy E. (Knaggs) Bechtel. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister Pamela Bechtel, and brothers Ronald and Rodney Cleelan.
Paula is survived by her husband, D.J. Shirey, whom she married on May 25, 1983. She is also survived by sons, Daniel Joe (Kimmie) Shirey of Lima, and David Lee (Billie) Shirey of DeGraff; 2 grandchildren: Layla Shirey and Taylor Shirey; and a sister Peggy Flory of Centerville.
Paula worked for 15 years at the Vision Center in Walmart – Bellefontaine, and was currently the manager. She enjoyed her “sisters trip” to Hocking Hills with Peggy, and treasured her coworkers at the Vision Center. Paula had a zest for life, and loved the outdoors. She was an avid hunter, and may have bagged more deer over the years than her husband (who taught her how to hunt).
Pastor Bryan Meadows will officiate Paula’s memorial service on Monday, October 21, at 1 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, is honored to serve the Shirey family and encourages anyone to share a fond memory or message of condolence at www.edsfh.com.
