Crystal Wells, 37, of Bellefontaine, was lodged in the Logan County Jail following a confrontational outburst with officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department at the scene of a traffic stop initiated shortly before 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Hubert Wells, 40, of Bellefontaine, was issued a summons for driving under suspension and the vehicle he was driving was towed from the scene of the stop in the area of Plumvalley near west Columbus Ave.

Officers on patrol observed a vehicle driven by Hubert, and were aware that his license was under suspension. Upon confirming that Hubert did not have a valid license, police initiated a stop of the vehicle.

Crystal reportedly told officers to “kick rocks” when police made contact. Police began to prepare to have the vehicle towed from the scene and Crystal attempted to block police from taking inventory of the vehicle. She also re-entered the vehicle and refused to come back out.

Officers attempted to forcible remove her from the car and a brief scuffle ensued. She repeatedly attempted to pull away from officers and had to be held up against the patrol car.

She was charged with resisting arrest and obstructing official business.
